Shadi vs Nikah: What’s the Difference?
Shadi vs Nikah — two words often used interchangeably, but they don’t mean quite the same thing. See our main Online Nikah Service page for the full legal process.
Nikah: The Legal & Religious Contract
Nikah is the actual Islamic marriage contract — the offer and acceptance (Ijab-o-Qabool), witnessed and documented in the Nikah Nama, that makes a couple legally and religiously married.
Shadi: The Wedding Celebration
“Shadi” more broadly refers to the wedding as a social event — the celebrations, functions, and traditions (Mehndi, Baraat, Walima) that surround a marriage. A couple can have a Nikah without a big Shadi, or vice versa.
Which One Do You Need Us For?
Our service covers the Nikah itself — the legally binding part — whether or not you’re also planning a larger Shadi celebration separately. See our Simple Nikah Package for a private, no-fuss option.
