Online Nikah for Pakistanis in the USA

Online Nikah for Pakistanis in the USA lets you complete your Nikah in Pakistan while living in the United States — without booking a flight, taking leave from work, or waiting months for a visit home. See our main Online Nikah Service page for the general legal framework.

Why Pakistanis in the USA Choose Online Nikah

The most common scenario we see is a groom or bride based in the US — on a work visa, green card, or as a citizen — whose partner and family are in Pakistan. Traveling back for a wedding often isn’t practical: visa timing, work schedules, and cost all get in the way. Rather than delaying the Nikah indefinitely, the party in the US appoints a Vakeel (proxy) in Pakistan, who represents them at the ceremony while they participate remotely, often by phone or video call for the actual moment of consent.

How Online Nikah Works From the USA

  1. Appoint your Vakeel. You execute a Wakalatnama naming a trusted relative or representative in Pakistan as your proxy. This document can be prepared with our help and signed in the US, then attested at the nearest Pakistani Consulate or Embassy, or executed directly with a Pakistani notary if you’re already in Pakistan briefly.
  2. Send your documents. Your CNIC/NICOP or US passport copy, along with your Vakeel’s details, are shared with our office in Pakistan ahead of the ceremony date.
  3. The ceremony takes place in Pakistan. Our Nikah Khawan conducts the Ijab-o-Qabool and Khutba-e-Nikah with your Vakeel representing you, two witnesses present, and (where practical) you joining remotely to confirm your consent directly.
  4. Registration. The Nikah Nama is registered with the relevant Union Council in Pakistan, exactly as it would be for a couple both physically present.
  5. Documents issued. You receive your registered Nikah Nama and, shortly after, your NADRA Marriage Registration Certificate.

MOFA Attestation for Online Marriage Documents in the US

If you’ll need your marriage documents recognised for US immigration purposes — spousal visa (K-3/CR-1/IR-1), adjustment of status, or other USCIS filings — your Nikah Nama and NADRA Marriage Certificate typically need attestation from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and in some cases further attestation or legalisation once submitted in the US. We guide clients through this attestation process so the documents you send to USCIS or the National Visa Center are accepted without delay.

Documents Needed for Online Nikah From the USA

  • CNIC/NICOP or US passport copy for both parties
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Duly executed and attested Wakalatnama for the party in the US
  • Details of two witnesses in Pakistan
  • Divorce decree or death certificate, if either party was previously married

A Few Things to Plan For

  • Time zone coordination: if you want to join the ceremony remotely, we schedule around US time zones where possible.
  • Consulate processing time: Wakalatnama attestation at a Pakistani Consulate can take a few days to a few weeks depending on location and season — start this early if you have a target date.
  • Original documents for later use: keep the registered Nikah Nama and NADRA certificate in a safe place; you’ll likely need originals or certified copies again for USCIS filings.
